This official notification from Indira Gandhi Krishi Vishwavidyalaya, dated July 23, 2026, outlines the revised guidelines for the thesis submission and viva-voce examinations of postgraduate and Ph.D. students in the event of their Major Advisor's retirement. According to the decision approved by the Academic Council, if the rough bound thesis is submitted either before or after the advisor's retirement, the next committee member or the Head of Department will assume the role of Major Advisor. This designated individual will sign the Certificate of Thesis, Oral Examination, and Certificate II in the final bound thesis on behalf of the retired advisor. Additionally, retired faculty members may still be invited to attend the student's viva-voce examination subject to their availability. These rules apply universally to all postgraduate and doctoral programs across the university's various agricultural colleges and research stations.
